The father-daughter duo,Maya HawkeandEthan Hawkehas been busy with their new project,Wildcat. Based on the life of the American novelist Flannery O’Connor, the movie follows her struggles to publish her first-ever novel.

During their recent interview with Variety, the lead star of the biographical drama actress reacted to a viral moment from the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, where her father and brother Levon Hawke are seen alongside the 35-year-old singerRihanna.

TheBoyhoodactor was quick to admit that he was“caught by the paparazzi openly flirting with Rihanna.”However, his daughter quipped in and corrected her father, saying that he was“openly trying”to flirt with the singer. Her unexpected remark seemed to catch Hawke off guard, as he said,“So you’re really touching a nerve.”

As her father termed his seemingly failed flirting attempts as “family’s shame,”theMainstreamactress assured him that he should not feel that way and“it’s a family pride.” Earlier this year the actor took to his Instagram to share some of the time met the singer during a 2015 NBA game following her grand Super Bowl halftime show.

When Ethan Hawke Took His Son’s Seat to Have a Chat With Rihanna

Rihanna once again captured millions of hearts as she took the stage for the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, one of them also being of the Hollywood star Ethan Hawke. The actor took to Instagram to share his love for the singer with some throwback pics from the 2015 All-Star NBA game.

The pics show him attending the game with his son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, who is initially seen next to theUmbrellasinger. However, in the following pictures, his father takes his seat and is seen in a conversation with the singer, whileThe Thicketactor seemingly appears embarrassed, having his palm on his forehead.

“After Rihanna’s brilliant halftime performance, I’m hoping my son can find it in his heart to forgive a Dad for taking his moment,”he said in the caption. His fellow actress Gwyneth Paltrow took a shot at him for his posture,“Could you sit up straight, for god’s sake? You’re sitting next to Rihanna!”

These pictures seemed to have become a cherished addition to the Hawke family archives, as theAsteroid Cityactress also shared the same picture as she wished Hawke a Happy Father’s Day.

Wildcatis set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this month.
