The Flashhas long been one of DC Comics’ most popular superheroes, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of the upcoming Flash movie. The latest trailer for the movie has given fans even more to be excited about, with the introduction of what seems to be a classic villain from the comics – the Reverse-Flash.

Ezra Miller in The Flash

For those unfamiliar with the comics, the Reverse-Flash, also known as Eobard Thawne, is a speedster with similar abilities to the Flash but uses them for evil purposes. In the comics, Thawne has also been known to take on the appearance of the Flash, stealing his face and masquerading as him.

Who’s The Real Villain InThe Flash?

The idea of stealing the Flash’s face might seem odd, but it is part of Thawne’s origin story. The “The Return of Barry Allen” storyline reveals that Thawne was once a scientist obsessed with the Flash. After gaining the Flash’s powers and traveling back in time, Thawne discovered his fate as the Reverse-Flash and sought revenge on his “idol.”

Including the Reverse-Flash in the movie is a smart move by the filmmakers, as it provides a classic villain for the Flash to go up against. However, director Andy Muschietti has been creating a bluff by showcasing two versions of Barry Allen in the trailer, leaving fans guessing about which one could be the Reverse-Flash.

The Flashmovie is one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year, and the trailer has given fans a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming film. The trailer shows Barry Allen (played by Ezra Miller) traveling through time to save his mother and creating an alternate timeline.

The Flash

The trailer also shows the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman, who appears to be from an alternate universe. This is not surprising, as the movie is based on the Flashpoint storyline, a comic book arc that involves time travel and alternate universes. Flashpoint was a massive crossover event in the comics that forever changed the DC Comics universe.

The newFlashmovie appears to be taking a cue from the comics and The CW’sThe Flashseries by introducing an evil version of Barry Allen. However, whether this version of Barry is the Reverse-Flash or a new character altogether is unclear, but the chances of the former happening seem very likely.

What is clear is that the villain inThe Flashmovie has a deep connection to Barry and his powers. But what is most intriguing is the introduction of a new villain, who is not explicitly named in the trailer but appears to be an evil version of Barry Allen himself.

The Flash vs. The Flash

The Flashpoint storyline saw Barry Allen traveling back in time to save his mother, just like in the movie. However, his actions caused a ripple effect that changed the entire timeline. Heroes became villains, villains became heroes, and the world was plunged into chaos.

The movie appears to be taking a more focused approach to the story, with the Flash’s actions creating an alternate timeline he must set right. The trailer also introduces Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle. This is the first time that Supergirl has appeared in a live-action movie.

Her presence suggests that the movie will explore the multiverse concept, where different versions of characters exist in different universes. This concept has been explored in the CW’sArrowverse, where multiple versions of the Flash and other heroes exist in different universes.

While the trailer has introduced many new characters and concepts, it has also set up a red herring with the introduction of two Scarlet Speedsters. The trailer shows Barry Allen and the evil version of himself, but it also briefly shows another Flash, who appears to be wearing a slightly different suit.

There may be more than one evil speedster in the movie, or the two speedsters seen in the trailer may be red herrings to throw off fans and hide the villain’s true identity. The Flashmovie is set to be a game-changer for the DC Extended Universe, and fans are excited to see what the future holds for the franchise.

With the Flash’s ability to traverse the multiverse, the possibilities for the franchise are endless, and fans are looking forward to seeing what surprises are in store for them in the future.

The Flashhits theatres on July 03, 2025.
